Prasadam, Kirtan and Books for Victims of Hurricane Yolanda

Dear Prabhus and Didis,

Please accept our dandavat pranams.

All glories to Sri Sri Guru and Gauranga.

We are the Seva Team of the International Pure Bhakti Yoga Society Philippines (Radha Govinda Gaudiya Math), located #37A P. Florentino St. Brgy. Lourdes Quezon City Metro Manila. One of our main objectives aside from book distribution is Prasadam distribution, so at present we are engaged in the VEGETARIAN DINNER CLUB.

Recently, two or more Islands in our Country were severely hit by SUPER TYPHOON YOLANDA (HAIYAN). The damage was so severe that more than eighty percent of the houses and infrastructures in Tacloban City, Guian, and the neighboring Towns were devastated. Almost 5,000 dead bodies were recovered and few thousand more are missing and believed to have been swallowed by the current of the ocean. Thousands of people lost their homes and loved ones. The situation was shocking that even the Government was not able to make an immediate response to the calamity. It took them almost a week before they could decide what to do, where to start, and what should be done.
Many countries such as America, China, South Korea, Japan, Autralia etc. have sent donations to alleviate the situation, but most of the relief goods do not reach many areas that are far from the airport. There is still a lot of people who are starving and struggling to survive.

The people in this area need some help and inspiration, they need the mercy of Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu and Gaudiya Vaisnavas. So, we the members of Philippine Seva Team in cooperation with GVP and Bhaktiprojects would like to launch a massive PRASADAM DISTRIBUTION, BOOK DISTRIBUTION, AND DISTRIBUTION OF THE HOLY NAMES (Kirtan).

We are therefore appealing to the kindhearted vaisnavas and friends of Srila Gurudeva’s sanga to give us  donations so we can buy the following ingredients and equipment for IPBYS FEEDING PROGRAM:

Philippines is a Christian country and everyone is expecting to have a Merry Christmas, so hopefully our humble   attempt of giving PRASADAM, BOOKS, AND THE HOLY NAMES to the victims of typhoon Yolanda will become a historical Christmas Gift from our sanga.

We are looking forward for your favorable response.

Aspiring to be in the service of guru and vaisnavas,

Yadunath das

I’m with UNICEF working in many towns and villages throughout Leyte. The food distribution is going very well. We have set up centres on all large towns and travel daily by truck for distribution. There is no shortage of money. Foreign aid numbers hundreds of millions US dollars. What we are in need of though is clothing and blankets. There is a shortage here in the philippines if you can help with that. Fantastic. Thank you all for your huge efforts and support. Yadubar das

Nice to hear from you and that you are helping. Would be nice if we could team up. We have a shortage of money in Manila but have facility in Manila to bring anything. If Unicef or any aid can give a grant to our temple then we can buy what is needed and bring it there along with prasadam for distribution. We could get blankets wholesale here in Manila for about 100 peso each. We can provide receipts, etc. and meetup with you if you can find a sponsor. Thanks.

Haribol, nice to hear everybody is helping out so much. My company just donated 2 000 000 US dollars to the cause, And I have heard from many people on the ground that things look a lot better. The biggest job now will be housing. Certainly keep a lot of filipinos employed for a while haribol.

Haribol. Devotees have the softest hearts. Sometimes so soft they have no thoughts for themselves. The Philippines devotees are like that. Unfortunately many parts of the visayas are declared disaster zones. They are not places for untrained unskilled workers despite their enthusiasm and concern. At the moment the Philippines Army alongside thousands of foreign aid volunteers are working in these areas. They are all highly trained and skilled people particularly for these situations. There are no facilities, no hotels, no rooms, no electricity, no running water, no fuel in almost all areas. people are facing extremely difficult circumstances. Amidst this calamity there are looters, rapists, thieves and discontents. People coming into these areas though good willed increase the responsibilities of others and decrease the resources available. The best thing devotees can do is stay in touch with loved ones where possible and chant 64 rounds of hare nama per day. All glories to SriSri Guru Gauranga.

So grateful for your concern and well-wishing. The devotees will not go to the heart of Tacloban as they are aware of the problems there. They will go to small town and villages that have also been hit and have no food. The team leader, Yadunath prabhu is from that area and his family there will also be helping with security and where to go. Also they are waiting a few weeks so things have calmed down there, and this will be a good time for them to then go and bring hot cooked meals and happiness.
