One of the Food Vendors at Shaktifest and Bhaktifest is the Bliss Cafe. They are devotees who have a restaurant in San Luis Obispo, California (http://www.blisscafeslo.com/). I met David, one of the owners at a festival over the summer and he told me he would be happy to keep books on their shelf in the restaurant. I gave him some small books at that time, and a month after that Krsnamayi dasi and Sivananda prabhu were in that area and gave more books. On my drive to San Francisco for another festival (report soon coming about that), we stopped at the Bliss Cafe and replenished their books.
After San Francisco, I continued my drive up the 101 Freeway through the Redwoods to go to Oregon to attend another festival. On my way, I stopped at a cafe to rest and do internet (free wireless). It was a hip cafe, and I asked if I could leave some books and they no problem.
Before going to San Francisco, we attended Bhaktifest. At Bhaktifest, I met a wonderful lady who is a coordinator of the nurses at San Mateo Hospital. She was telling me how unappreciated and stressed out the nurses are and she would love for them to be able to read literature on bhakti. So, I told her the GVP Sponsorship Program can donate books to the hospital. We set up a time for me to come to the hospital when I would be in that area the following weekend.
I went with Indira to deliver the books to the hospital, but unfortunately, the time we arrived they were having a code blue and no one was allowed inside. She met me in the lobby though and greeted us so warmly and was so grateful to receive the books. She said she would put them on the shelf, and that she hopes the patients families also read them, as it is so much better then reading a Sharper Magazine.
