An Evening out in the City of Manila

We decided to give some of the books that were donated in a red light district in Manila in the Philippines by chance. We came across the area when looking for a new place to distribute books. It was very shocking as there were many many houses with young girls inside. The girls were maybe as young as 14 years old, just children. we had small books The Way of Love and Secrets of the Undiscovered Self and some prasad.

We were allowed inside some of the houses and the girls in there were all very young and had numbers on them so the man chose which number he wanted.

We first went in one of those houses without realizing what place it was. But after meeting all those girls in the first house we felt very inspired to meet more.

They are actually really common woman like someone you would have a chat with at the bakery in the morning…..

We gave everyone a  sweet-ball and we connected with them explaining about how everyone in this world is looking for love everyday, all day long, by trying to serve our family friends, boss, pets & society.
In the end of the day we are still unsatisfied although we passed our whole day just trying to be happy, pretending that we are ok. We try to convince others that are exactly in the same condition….

They were really touched by that and all of them wanted books and then Sudevi even started dancing the swami step with them while we all (us and the ladies) sang together the Maha-mantra….. We went round like this, place to place and came home without any books left and really happy that Gurudeva had reached some peopleʼs heart.

Many thanks to the book sponsorship program and all who are supporting the book distribution mission. People out there really need it.

    Why would you be shocked to find “working girls” in a red light district? I live in an apartment in Toronto, Canada, and the whole neighborhood is a marketplace for sex and drugs. Anyway, it’s great they got some transcendental books.

    Transcendental book distribution ki jaya!

      Red districts exist everywhere and we all see prostitution and drugs on the streets, but to come out of my way to go to these people and share what I’ve been given by my Gurudev its something glorious and a selfless act.
      All glories to our Srila Gurudev and his sincere disciples who are giving their life to serve him! May I receive their mercy so I can also develop such a mood of service.

    Maybe they were shocked because some of the girls were too young, like 14 yrs old is considered by law to be too young to be making a proper decision about doing that kind of work. All glories to the sankirtan army in the Filis and everywhere else. and all glories to the working girls who appreciate the books even the slightest because Srila Swami Prabhupada says that if anyone even touches the books they will get sukrti. once I saw a prostitute get given a book and her face lit up so much. How will Nitai Gaura ever neglect such givers and recievers of transcendental mercy? Jd

    Gurudeva is so merciful, he must have heard crying hearts, so he sent his mercy in the form of his books there

    This was also a favourite service (the red light districts) very dear to the heart of Prabhavisnu das/swami and due to his tireless efforts and legendary humility only (reluctantly) took credit for it after 12 years!………’amazing’

    Great job but I think is not appropriate to post pictures of woman dressed in that way, little bit inappropriate for this kind of website. Simple solution, just edit the pics and post the same people without showing the intimate parts.
    Thanks

    Rishi Prabhu,

    It’s not uncommon for girls to wear revealing clothing, especially in red-light districts. They are wearing more clothing than girls at the beach. Besides, “jivera svarupa haya krsnera nitya dasa.” They’re all Krsna dasis.

      Damodara prabhu,

      I just said that its not appropriate to post some kind of pictures because:
      -This represent Srila Gurudeva mission;
      -People of different ages check this site;
      -Indian people also are devotees and became shocked to see that;
      -We have in our tradition, sanyasis and brahmacaris who read this page.

      So, think about it.:) Haribol!

    very happy to see this seva ….. iam a brahmacari and as in all world, to see womens with less clothes than this is not unusual ….. for me no problem about photos ….. Rsi Prabhu we are in 2013 … kali yuga is going on … some more years they will have no clothes at all ….. and the mercifull devotees will do very well preaching to the most fallen souls ….. nice seva … Nitai came to deliver the most fallen, they are number one in Nitai´s list ….. Please, go on .. Jay Gurudev!!!

      Baldev prabhu,

      I was think like you but I agree with this Rsi prabhu.
      Its easy to edit these pictures on the photoshop or another photo editor and cover the parts of these women.

      We are in Kali yuga sure but we can still choise to live in sattva guna and use our intelligence to discriminate what is right or wrong.

      I hope the webmaster check this comments for the benefits of the mission.

      yours, hare krsna!

    Jaya Baldev Prabhu,

    Here’s a quote from The Soul of Book Distribution: “Go door to door. Never be afraid and think, ‘Someone may beat me with a wine bottle.’ Don’t fear. Nityananda Prabhu went to the debauchees Jagai and Madhai and said, ‘What are you doing? Please chant Hare Krsna just once.’”

    Book distribution ki jai!
