    Here are links to the two issues of The Rays of The Harmonist, dealing with this topic. The Dalai Lama received the first of them (Two Separate Opinions on Buddha) from a devotee and had his secretary read it all aloud to him right away. His reply was that he found nothing wrong in it, but offered no further comments.

    Dear Damodar PrABHU,

    Would you please tell in detail about the Buddha ‘thing’? If it is not present Buddha (propagated Buddhism and actual name is Siddharth from Lumbini) then Jayadeve Gosvami has mentioned which Buddha in Dasavtara Stotram ? In which kali yuga that Buddha which you are mentioning has appeared ? Please explain with reference.

      Dear Harendra Modak,

      I provided the only reference I have on the subject (SB 2.7.37, verse and purport) at this point. If I were an expert like Jiva Gosvami, Srila Prabhupada and Srila Gurudeva, I would be very happy to provide you with more information.

    Madhava Acarya was also an incarnation of Vyuh deva the wind God. I didn’t mention that.

    Dear Devotees,

    The following is from Srimad-Bhagavatam 2.7.37:

    Translation

    When the atheists, after being well versed in the Vedic scientific knowledge, annihilate inhabitants of different planets, flying unseen in the sky on well-built rockets prepared by the great scientist Maya, the Lord will bewilder their minds by dressing Himself attractively as Buddha and will preach on subreligious principles.

    Purport

    This incarnation of Lord Buddha is not the same Buddha incarnation we have in the present history of mankind. According to Srila Jiva Gosvami, the Buddha incarnation mentioned in this verse appeared in a different Kali age…
