Description of Sri Vyasapuja Panchakams

by Swami BV Madhava

Respected, revered Devotees,

Please accept my humble dandavats pranams

All glories to Sri Guru and Sri Gauranga, all glories to Sri Sri Radha Vinode Bihariji and Sri Sri Radha Raman Bihariji.

Srila Gurudeva observed Sri Vyasapuja of his Gurumaharaja, Param Pujyapada Srila Bhakti Prajnana Kesava Gosvami Maharaja by following the authentic procedures of Vyasapuja Panchakam that are outlined in the scriptures and performed by our previous Acaryas.

My most honorable Gurumaharaja, Param Pujyapada Srila Bhaktivedanta Vamana Gosvami Maharaja and Param Pujyapada Srila Bhaktivedanta Trivikrama Gosvami Maharaja observed in the same manner the festival of Sri Vyasapuja for their Gurumaharaja.

Although Srila Gurudeva was very reluctant to accept the worship of Vyasapuja for himself he did become very happy when on his own appearance day we made exactly the same arrangements of Vyasapuja Panchakam as was done for his Gurumaharaja, our Param Gurudeva.

On behalf of Sri Gaudiya Vedanta Samiti Trust, Sri International Gaudiya Vedanta Trust and Sri International Pure Bhakti Yoga Society, I humbly request all disciples, devotees and followers of Srila Gurudeva to perform, according to your capacity, this Vyasapuja Panchakam on the Abhirbhav Tithi of Srila Gurudeva.

This system is maintained in all the preaching centers and temples of Srila Gurudeva in India. For every Panchakam, write each name on a separate piece of paper and assemble as shown in the diagram. It is also necessary to offer Bhoga and do Arati to all the individual Panchakams. Bhoga should be offered according to the rules and regulations of Gaudiya Vaishnava tradition and thereafter Arati should be performed.

    dear Govinda prabhu

dandavats pranams and yes, I was expecting this to come,

    here are more details :

all names are to be written on separate pieces of paper, these are to be attached as flags to small sticks and next to be placed upon half a potato or within a small cup filled with sand

then place upon a clean surface not far distant from Srila Gurudeva’s Vyasasana all the name flags as shown within the diagrams

next offer arati and bhoga and perform separate gurupuja for Srila Gurudeva

then devotees may begin the glorification of Srila Gurudeva

dear Jaya Govinda prabhu, my dandavats pranams to you, we have heard from Srila Gurudeva that Srila Vyasadeva appeared on a small island – Krsna Ganga Ghata near Mathura – in the Yamuna

regarding Srila Vyasadeva appearing in Nepal and spending his younger years there, please ask the Nepali residents for sastric proof

    Dear Sripad Madhava Maharaja,

    My pranam to you.

Thankyou very much for this information and instruction.

Here is how I would imagine carrying out the instruction on Srila Gurudeva’s Avirbhava, according to our simple facility.

Put the pieces of paper with all the separate names on them, on a clean surface near or on the altar, arranging them as in the diagrams you gave. Then offering the bhoga to Thakurji as usual, as well as meditating on offering it to the Panchakams with their different perosonalities. Then offering arati as usual, including to the Panchakams as they are laid out.

Is this a correct understanding of how to do it?

    In service to Srila Gurudeva,
    Bhadra dasi (NZ)

Dandavat pranams once more Madhava Maharaja & other Vaishnavas.

I will request here in Nepal, that we would follow the procedure described by you, in Kathmandu, on the day when we celebrate Srila Gurudeva’s appearance day.

    Hari bol Madhava Maharaja !

Please accept my humble dandavat pranams, from Nepal.

Thank you for kindly posting this Vyasa Panchakam, which Srila Gurudeva always performed on Vyasa-purnima. May I ask you one question Maharaja ? Here in Nepal there’s one place, called Damauli, where the local sadhus consider that Srila Vyasadeva’s avataran or descent on Earth would have taken place there. I remember Srila Gurudeva told us about the incarnation of Srila Vysadeva having taken place in Yamuna, and that must be the siddhanta no doubt.

But the scholars here interpret the word Yamuna to mean in Sanskrit something like “the bountiful river because it joins another river right here” etc, and not Yamuna river herself. They even worship a gufa (a cave) where they consider he has resided thousands of years ago.
May I know is there any such evidence in our scriptures, Madhava Maharaja, regarding Srila Vyasadeva spending early years of His life in Nepal ?

I’m humbly sending this to your holiness, and hoping to have your darshan in Navadvipa Dhama around Gaura Purnima.

Dandavat pranams Shripad Madhava Maharaj and devotees,

I’m so happy you put out this article a few days before Gurudeva’s Vyasapuja. Now I finally have a chance to do something right, for a change. Hare Krishna!
