Birmingham Festival of Harikatha 24-27 June 2011 (arrive 23)

Organised by members of the UK sanga in conjunction with the Bhakti Yoga Society (Bhakti Projects UK) reg. charity no: 1122503
All glories to Sri Guru and Gauranga!

We are excited and pleased to announce a UK festival from 24-27 June 2011, with Sripada BV Vana Maharaja plus Sripada BV Ashram Maharaja and Sripada BV Giri Maharaja with Sriman Jiva Pavana Prabhu as MC. Our aim is to facilitate a space where we can gather to hear nectarean Harikatha, honour delicious healthy prasadam, take part in aratis and bhajans and share our skills and experiences to create an enlivening spiritual gathering. We also want to take this opportunity to welcome newcomers and make new friends. We are deliberately keeping costs -and fees- low so that the festival is accessible to as many people as possible. Above all, we want everyone to come and hear the Harikatha!

The Venue

The festival will be held on the first floor of
Namdhari Gurdwara a large Sikh temple at
1199 Coventry Road
Hay Mills
Birmingham B25 8DF

Our sanga has longstanding and very sweet links with this temple through Srila Gurudeva. You may remember this as the site of 3 ecstatic UK festivals on Gurudeva’s European tour in 2001, 2002 and 2003. Facilities are basic, but adequate: those who cannot afford to arrange accommodation in one of the nearby budget motels (a list of these is provided below) are welcome to stay at the gurdwara for no charge. There is plenty of floor space, plus toilets and showers. There is also a large car park at the rear of the building in which camper vans can be parked. Namdhari Gurdwara is located on a main road into Birmingham 8.5 miles from the airport and convenient for the M42, M6 and M40 motorways. There are many local shops nearby including an Asda superstore and bus stops for travelling to and from the city centre.

      Haribol again,
After discussing with my husband, he says we will havr the keys to the place so you could sleep there 22.6; but you would be on your own there until the next day! Let us know what you want to do. My email is now sarojinididi@yahoo.co.uk, and my husdand’s the same as before.

Dandavats Lilavati and Govinda, We look forward to meeting you! Yes, the fee is per person for the whole festival. In the festival place, it will be possible to sleep on the floor (there are toilets and a shower downstairs) in the large main room, but this is not available until 23.6.11, the evening before the festival begins, when we will be there to set it up.We think that by 24.6.11 there will be a number of devotees sleeping there; a bit like the festivals in 2001-2003 when Srila Gurudeva used to go there. Hope you can still come… Radhe Radhe!
